Reading Promo Depth Without Losing the Base Price Story
How retail strategists in Thailand can separate temporary discount noise from the longer price path that shapes margin.
Promo calendars in Thai grocery and convenience retail often stack temporary discounts on top of temporary discounts. The dashboard then shows a jagged price path that looks like volatility when much of it is simply overlapping funding.
Start by marking a clean base-price series for each hero SKU—the ticket you defend when no promo is running. Then layer promo depth as a separate track: percentage off that base, duration, and whether the funding sits with supplier or retailer.
